YOU CAN MAKE A DIRECT IMPACT ON A CHILD’S LIFE
FROM HEAD-TO-TOE

Together, we can uplift the
dignity, confidence, self-esteem and ability to play and learn
for hundreds of low-income children across southern Vermont
by overcoming the most visible signs of what they cannot afford.
Up to $200 to support a child throughout the year!

Affording basic necessities as children grow is the leading cause of how families fall into poverty, forcing children to wear shoes that are too big or too small, borrow a warm coat to play outside, or go without daily essentials, impacting their overall health and well-being. See below - what a child receives throughout the year!

Since, 2022, the Alterra Mountain Company Community Foundation has awarded a matching grant each year to support the children and families living in the shadows of Stratton Mountain, gifting $162,500 for Head-to-Toe.

They, along with our local, national and international partners have recognized the work of the Stratton Community Foundation in helping our children to grow, thrive, and learn. Please join us as we continue to help those most vulnerable, and in need.

$200 sponsors a child throughout the year:

Clothing ($125)

Winter Coat, Boots, Warm Socks, Mittens, Snow Pants, Hat, Sneakers

Children deserve to have the most essential clothing to be safe and warm through long Vermont winters. Sneakers that fit bring joy and help children to live their best childhood and focus on learning.

“Thank you to the Stratton Foundation for all you do for our kids. We are grateful for the sneakers, food programs, and all the resources to care for our most vulnerable.”

School Supplies ($50)

Backpack, Supplies, Water bottle

Each year, children are given a list of required supplies for the school year. Low-income families spend approximately $280-$500 per child. For many, school supplies do not rise to the top of survival needs, and children must borrow or go without.

“Thank you for the great backpack. You are so kind. I had no backpack.”

“I got my first new toothbrush at school from the Stratton Community Foundation.”

Daily Necessities ($25)

Dental Kits, Health & Food

Oral pain is a leading cause of school absences due to pain and illness, yet tooth decay is one of the most preventable diseases and too many children have never been to a dentist.

Schools are provided with ‘Moving Mountains’ funds so that they can respond immediately to a child in crisis. Funds are used to purchase hygiene products, gas or groceries, or detergent to launder a child’s bedding.

“The Stratton Foundation provides a means for schools to care for children in a way that would not otherwise be possible.”
