Our Mission
Created to enhance the quality of life for residents and dedicated to building community in south-western Vermont, the Stratton Foundation provides financial support to non-profit organizations serving our community with the objective of opening doors to to a brighter future for Vermont kids with an emphasis on organizations with modest financial resources.
To realize our mission, we seek members, create events and programs, and solicit contributions. We are a community foundation to the core. We have deep roots in the community, and we insure donors their gifts will have an impact, meeting critical community needs.

Our History -We were founded in 1996 by a small group of community minded individuals who shared a common  love for the community in which they lived and worked and believed deeply in the value of supporting area non-profit organizations that contribute to the quality of life for all in the area, full time residents, second homeowners and visitors.
As of October 2009, the Foundation has contributed just over $601,241 to non-profit organizations in support of projects that meet a documented need in one or more of the sixteen communities we serve. Unlike conventional foundations, there is no endowment.
Our success depends upon the annual support of many individuals, area businesses, and service organizations. 100% of our member's annual contributions support our grant program. Funds raised from our events support our grant program and operating expenses.
We are fortunate that many people give generously of their time, talent and financial resources to support the foundation's mission. We organize annual community-building events where people have fun together while raising additional funds in support of our mission. Many area residents assist by organizing activities.
 Stratton Mountain is a dominant feature of the landscape that inspires dreams and around which a vibrant community has grown and developed since its founding. In recognition of the key role that the Mountain and the management of Stratton Resort, have played in the development of our community and the Foundation, we commissioned several beautiful lithographs. The Stratton Foundation is pure Vermont. The Foundation is all about people helping people: doing what they can to enrich the lives of all who live in the community.
